Gold Star Wives Day- To Show Respect for Fallen Members of U.S. Armed Forces

Showing respect to the sacrifice that spouses and families of fallen service members the U.S. armed forces have done, the Senate has passed a resolution to commemorate Gold Star Wives Day on April 5.

The Senate has taken this decision being well aware of the fact that military service members take the burden of protecting the freedom of the people of the United States on their shoulders and sacrifice the happiness of their life without making any complain. Besides, Senate recognizes the sacrifices made by their spouses and family members.

Gold Star Wives Day was first time celebrated on Dec. 18, 2010 with the support of the Gold Star Wives of America Inc. This is a non profit organization that has about to 10,000 members and that support to the spouses of fallen service members.

Many people associated with the organization of the event says that American men while leave their spouses to protect the interests of the country as well as protect human rights in various parts of the world, their wives sacrifice their love and remain alone in their houses waiting for their husbands and many of them don’t get their husbands but the news of their death. So, sacrifices being done by the wives of army men can not be overlooked at all and this day will not only remember the sacrifices of the fallen army men but their wives and other family members.

On the celebration day, war survivors will be given military lapel pins. Not only this, the women who have lost their husbands will also be provided keepsakes to keep their memories alive in their hearts and to make them realize that our whole country men respect the selfless services of their husbands.

The Department of Defense presents one of two lapel pins to Gold Star family members. The pins are worn by the survivors to recognize their sacrifices and as a way for others to pay tribute to them.
Finally, we will say should hope for a grand celebration of Gold Star Wives Day.
